We made reservations at the Red Ginger to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Their celebration was the day after it actually started, which worked out good for us. They performed the lion dance and did some Kung Fu demonstrations. Then we ordered the whole fish to start the Year of the Horse. Wai-gong and Wai-po joined us for dinner as well as Kaylyn's friend Adriana. It was a nice evening!

February 24, 2013 - Chinese New Year Celebration
We spent this year celebrating the Chinese New Year at the Eau Gallie Civic Center again with SCCAA (Space Coast Chinese American Association). Wai-po and Shyanne came too. The food was good and the entertainment was good. We won 4 out of the 5 tickets we had for door prizes (3 purses, $30 gift certificate to Fujiyama's, and $25 gift certificate to Hobby Town), and we won 2 big prizes for the tickets we bought. We actually won from two of the tickets that somebody else had given us since they were leaving early. We won a BENQ digital camer (retailed $250 online) and a his/her Geneva watch set (retailed $25 online). Pretty cool! Everybody kept looking at us every time we went up to claim another prize. We ended up giving one of the purses to a little girl that the girls played with the whole time. Also, we gave Shyanne one since it was her ticket that won the door prize.

January 29th Chinese New Year Celebration
This year we celebrated again with the Space Coast Chinese American Association (SCCAA) at the Eau Gallie Civic Center where they had a lot of entertainment, including the Lion Dance and a famous Peking Opera performance. Wai-gong and Wai-po were able to join us as they just got back from New York City. Each of the kids got Hong bao (red envelopes with $1) and Lanterns. There was great food and it was really fun. The girls had a ball watching all the demonstrations and performances. Their favorite was when they called out the numbers for door prizes. We did not win a door prize, but my parents won an interesting art piece from a drawing (let's just say it is good luck for fertility this year). We also ran into some current and old co-workers that we sat with and had great conversation with.
