September 27, 2013 - Jason Update
So, Jason is still on anticoagulant medication (Coumadin), baby aspirin, and beta blocker. He is still in pain and hates the pounding of his chest. He's been having more pain lately and his scab is still not healing (falls off and scabs up again, constantly). I finally forced him into going back up to Shand's today while we were on the field trip. The doctor thought his scab looked infected so he prescribed him a very strong antibiotic (2000 mg/day) along with some antibiotic cream to put on it. He also switched his beta blocker to a more potent brand to try and ease the pounding. He said that everything else looked fine and his mechanical valve was working beautifully. Low and behold, 24 hours later, Jason started feeling much better. I have a feeling that the pain stemmed from an infection. His scab is finally healed and everything is getting better. There's still some pounding, but it's better than what it was. The doctor also told him his INR could go lower now since it has been four months since the surgery. He can regulate at 1.5-2.5 now.
September 27, 2013 - Brevard Museum Field Trip
Kaylyn's 6th grade class got to take a field trip to the Brevard Museum. Since it fell on one of my off Fridays, I got to drive and chaperone. It was a lot of fun! I forgot my camera, so I used my phone and the lighting was horrible in the museum, so the pictures aren't that great. The last picture is of Kaylyn attending a spreecast (live talk) with her favorite actress, G. Hannelius, who plays Avery on the Disney show Dog with a Blog. She was so excited!

September 21, 2013 - 1st Swim Meet
CCS had their first swim meet today. Whenever Ashlyn was swimming, Mrs. Pickard and Lynette would cheer her on even though she is not swimming for CCA. It was so awesome. She has come so far with her swimming and is improving slightly on her times. Jesse did really well too for swimming for his first season! He got a few second places even. Kaylyn missed this first meet since she was playing a volleyball game. This was the only volleyball game that interfered with the swim meets for the season.
Almost a false start :-) |

September 18, 2013 - Beautiful Rainbow
Driving in to work today, I saw the most beautiful rainbow. It spanned the entire sky and went from one side to the other. It brightened my day and reminded me of God's glory and promise. On September 21, we took two random pictures. One of me with the animals and one of Jesse trying on cousin Taylor's karate uniform.

September 14, 2013 - Kaylyn's 1st Volleyball Game at CCS
So, the very first day of school for Kaylyn at CCS she broke out in a 103 fever for almost 9 days. Turns out that it was her 12 year molars coming in! My 11 year old baby still gets a high fever for teeth coming in! Amazing! Anyways, she missed the first and second volleyball game because of this. So, this was the first volleyball game that she got to attend. The other two kids, Ashlyn & Jesse, were at swim practice during the game. CCS's swim team has many coaches whom have all been trained on how to teach kids to swim the different strokes. They get in the pool with the kids, swim beside them underneath the water to see their form and correct. They have actually taught Ashlyn how to do the backstroke! It brought tears to our eyes when we saw this! This is the first time Jesse has swam and he is learning to do the strokes very well. Kaylyn is being corrected on her strokes since she has never been taught how to do them properly even though this is her fourth swim season. It's very hard to learn to do something different when you've been doing it the same way for so long, but they are working with her and she is learning and doing very well.

September 3, 2013
So, the first couple of weeks of school at CCA some things happened that led us to finally start looking for a new school for the kids. God has been pushing us in this direction for awhile now and we're finally listening. So, to do what's best for our family we shadowed the kids at Community Christian School (CCS) and absolutely loved the feeling that we got from CCS. The next day we had them enrolled and started at CCS and have been loving it ever since! The kids are all on the swim team which has been amazing and Kaylyn got right on the co-ed 5th/6th grade volleyball team. Unfortunately I did not get a picture of their first day at this new school since things were so hectic.

September 2, 2013 - Labor Day
We spent Labor Day at Wai-gong and Wai-po's house doing water sports, fishing, and having good food! The kids did the banana boat (or whatever it's called). Then they jumped off the boat and swam a little bit. Then they each went on the jet ski for a little bit. Bryan, Bryan and Marcie stopped by on their jet ski for a little bit to say hello.

September 1, 2013 - Jacksonville Zoo
We spent most of the day here and headed back to Melbourne around 4:00 so that we could get back at a decent hour with the kids. This was a pretty neat zoo. We got the armbands so that it included the 4-D ride, the train, and the butterfly garden.
