September 30, 2012 - Mid-Autumn Festival
We met with our local adoption yahoo group to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival (Moon Festival). When we first got their, Kaylyn played some volleyball with the Magrath kids for awhile, while Ashlyn played on the playground and walked out on the dock to look at the fish and turtles. Then we ate dinner. After dinner, they Mood Lady Legend Puppet Show was performed. As it got dark, the lantern parade processed to the dock, where we let some of the fire lanterns go (some didn't do so well, and ended up in the pond). It was a lot of fun and it was nice finally meeting some of the people from the group. At the end, we ate some moon cake, and I actually liked it. Ironically, since it was the Taiwanese moon cake, Ashlyn did not like it. She likes the Chinese traditional egg moon cakes! Karen was kind enough to give her one, and Ashlyn was in heaven. It was funny because we ran into the Pilkington family while we were there, and we hung out some too.
